AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary President News

My sympathy and prayers go to the families of AMVETS Auxiliary members, Lavon Juhl and Ramona Bailey.
Lavon was a founding member of the Waverly Post 79 auxiliary and had over 67 years of service within the auxiliary. She had held every office locally and also some on the State level. Lavon had been our local Hospital Chairperson for over 30 years. Through the years she traveled with others to the Marshalltown VA home to volunteer with bingo and other activities throughout the year, missing only a few times due to weather or illness. Her dedication to our local hospital, collecting member’s volunteering hours, encouraging members to volunteer, and her own time spent volunteering highlighted her passion in this area of membership for our auxiliary.
Through the years she had keep busy working our monthly food night, participating in “Heritage Days” parades, delivered “Meals on Wheels”, yearly had helped place grave markers and set up flags for Memorial Day, participated in the Memorial Day program, performed graveside services for lost auxiliary members, and had helped serve funeral dinners. She will be missed by her family and friends, and also by her whole AMVETS family.
We are still collecting items to be donated to Marshalltown VA Home. We will deliver these items to Marshalltown on January 2 so there is still time to donate.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Patty Kaiser, Temporary Chaplain while Marj Reinhardt recovers, and to Wanda Benning, filling the position of Hospital Chairperson. Also, all officers and members helping put together our Hors D’Oeuvres Party and decorating the VFW for the holidays
Auxiliary Food Night: January 22 is Hot Ham Sandwich, cheesy Hash brown casserole, Jell-O salad, and dessert $7.00
