May – All of One Blood

But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

I use to give blood to the Red Cross when I was in the Navy. As I was undergoing the procedure, I looked at the other donors. Although our ethnic backgrounds were different, the same thing keeping each of us alive united us. And we were willing to give it to other to keep them alive. We were united by patriotism, a sense of justice, and equal citizenship. Jesus said, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:15 Christ validated his words by offering his blood to atone for our sins. Today as we remember those who died while serving our country, we also give thanks for Jesus’ sacrifice.
